Competition open to small businesses in Ireland. We are looking to help an SME in Ireland who wants to improve their product or their product, or a startup that wants to develop their product for production and (hopefully) patent. This competition is open to small businesses and startups of all kinds (e.g. baking and/or smart tech). If you believe you fall into this category, then by all means, sign up.

The prize? Forty hours of product development work from us. On the house.

What else the prize includes:

• All the services listed in in our About page

• A one to one consultation upon claiming your prize

• Full disclosure about the progress of your project and the logic behind our decisions

• As the customer, you have the final call (however, we would respectfully suggest you listen to our engineers’ advice prior to doing so)

The rules of the competition are as follows:

• Write up to two pages of an essay outlining why you went into business (besides wanting to make more money), the aim is to convince us we can work co-operate easily.

• Include your name, the business name (if you have one), your email address, phone number and (optional) the expected duration of the project.

That’s it.

Please bear the following in mind:

1. Two pages seems like a lot, but you’ll be surprised how quickly that fills up

2. We don’t need to hear your life story unless it’s relevant to your business

3. We’re not marking your spelling and grammar. If we can understand your entry, you’re eligible

4. We’re an engineering business, not a business development firm. For this please visit your Local Enterprise Office or we can refer you to one of our partners in this area.

5. For patents and other IP concerns, please visit the Intellectual Property Office of Ireland. If you want to protect your product by patent, please do not disclose any details in your entry

6. Intention to patent is not a requirement for entry

To enter, please sent your essay to info@kbengdesign.com with the subject line “SME booster”. Entry closes at midnight the night of Friday the 2nd of August 2024.

(All entrants will receive more information regarding pricing. If a project takes longer than forty hours, then you will be billed for any time after the prize amount. Upon accepting your prize, you will receive a quote and invoice with a 100% discount for the first forty hours.)
